The cars imported by BMW Australia in 2008 for the MINI Challenge Series were all constructed by BMW Motorsport Germany. The cars were taken from the production line in the UK and then transported to Germany where they modified to become factory built race cars.

The cars have unique VIN’s but do not have compliance plates and have never been road registered. Note: Challenge Motorsport have records of each of the VINs of the factory built race cars imported to Australia in 2008 and can confirm authenticity.

Challenge Motorsport purchased the car from BMW after the series ended, the photo shows the car at that time (2011). The car is now owned by Barney Hogan, a long term support of the team.

BMW Motorsport made the following changes to the road going MINI R56 JCW to meet MINI Challenge specifications:

· Interior fittings such as seats, floor, door panels, headlining etc are removed 

· Dash is retained but modified as required with selected gauges

· Full roll cage to FIA standard

· Recaro race seat

· Schroth harness and window net

· Removable steering wheel

· KW 3-way adjustable shock absorbers

· Engine brace between shock towers

· AP Racing brakes and improved brake cooling

· Defueling device

· Wheel bolts fitted

· Adjustable rear wing, front splitter, aero floor tray and diffuser

· Bonnet and boot locks

· 2D display and scrutineering display system

· Airjack system

· Plumbed fire suppression system

· Ballast container (to contain weights allocated to race winners)
